Meet the Therapist

Hello, and welcome. I’m Emily Underwood, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and the owner of Deep Sage Therapy in Beavercreek. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2023.

Before becoming a counselor, I began my professional journey in pharmacy. Over time, I realized my passion was not only caring for people’s physical well-being, but also supporting their emotional and relational healing in a more personal and meaningful way. That path ultimately led me to counseling, where I found the work I feel deeply connected to.

I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, complex trauma, identity exploration, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy working with clients who are seeking deeper insight into themselves, their relationships, and their lived experiences.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity and self-understanding. I believe the therapeutic relationship itself can be deeply healing, and I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted. I take a flexible and conversational approach to therapy, allowing you to move at a pace that feels comfortable while exploring what feels most important to you. I use curiosity and thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, relationships, and personal story, and I view therapy as a collaborative process where we work together toward greater clarity, connection, and healing.

Above all, I value deep human connection and feel honored to hold space for the stories, experiences, and emotions my clients bring into the room.
